Let’s start with the proposal shall we?
Our trip to Hawaii had at least three hikes included because that’s what we like to do.
Did I know I was getting proposed to on one? Absolutely not. Enter the sunrise pillbox hike, where I chickened out on doing it on Saturday, and we hence did it on a Sunday (and I wanted to chicken out again but Ethan wouldn’t let me and I’d find out why about two hours later)
Henceforth! We climb, we walk, and we make it to the pillboxes by sunrise and as we’re sitting and watching more people start showing up (much to Ethan’s dismay) and from what he told me, he was holding the box in his hand (out of sight for me clearly) for a good ten minutes.
Easily for the past month prior to this, I kept on saying “this would be a great place to propose” I would say it on dates, walks, trips, anything I found REMOTELY romantic. So it started to turn into a fun joke I liked to play on him.
Until it wasn’t a joke, there we were, sitting at the front of the tallest pillbox, me being the brat that I was telling him it would be a great place to propose
Pause for dramatic affect
“You know what? This would be a great place to propose”
I didn’t even see him pull out the ring just out of no where there it was. I was dumbfounded. My mouth hung open for a good minute before he went “Soooo???”
“Soooo what??!” (Yes I was 100% pushing him to say it)
“Will you marry me?”
“Yes!”
Que the applause and people cheering for us, two very socially awkward people being the center of attention for a bit. (Yes, we’re anxious about the wedding being all about us too) But it was beautiful, and amazing and honestly, my favorite proposal story over any other.
(Gallery below shows photos from the day!)
This was one of the places I was THROUGHLY convinced he was going to propose to me at.
I MEAN CAN YOU BLAME ME
it was so damn romantic
It was fun regardless I just had to wait another month!
Please understand
I love to hike, but this man took me on a 1,048 step climb up a 35° angle mountain. The trip was sacramental for me to say the least, but it’s one of my favorite memories from our first big trip together. Get you a man that pushes you to reach new highs <3
